“And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.” — Luke 5:36-39
So you have an idea? You have something you want to make anew in your life; well this will require some change making in your life! Ah.
No!!!!
This may be of no surprise, but I will spell it out; you cannot do everything. You are limited by time and resources, albeit how you use those time and resources has infinite possibilities, and yes…law of attraction… you can bring into your life all you need to make what you will and set your mind to a reality. But you can not do everything. Therefore, changes are essential. And how those changes are also important. If you are currently working 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and have a young family, there is a lot of careful balancing of your and other people’s needs during a period of change. Everyone’s situation is different. We have all come to this place in our life’s through a different set of experiences; accumulating a different level and type of baggage, creating a different filter by which we see the world, and with a different set of resources. So how are we going to use what we got; get rid of what is not working; and set up new habits, routines and thought patterns?
First; we must be clear. Clear in our mind. Paint the idea in your head clearly, write it down, look at how it could happen, how much will it cost, what does it need, and write the road map out (how you see it happening, what, when and how often?). Be practical. What will affect who, and how can you mitigate any negative impacts? Who do we need to discuss with? What skills do you need? What extra resources do you need? What stuff / equipment do you need?
Second; we must break up the old patterns and habits in the way of the idea manifesting. Re-forge the growing parameters by which Life expresses in our lives. These include;
- Routine – Do you need to get up earlier? Do you need to find childcare? Do you need to make space in the evenings? Do you need to change when you have your main meal? Do you need to change when you do housework? Do you need to increase or decrease your amount of exercise?
- Habits – Do you need to change what you buy? How you buy? From where you buy? Do you need to change how you cook? What you cook? Do you need to treat your body differently? What is it that you do repetitively that maybe needs to change?
- Beliefs – What are your core values? Do they align with your idea? Which is out of sync? Are there any changes that we need to make, that we fear others reactions? Name them. Do we fear failure? Do we suffer from low self-esteem or low self-belief? Do you have a sense of pride in what you have done in your life so far which prevents you making any significant change? If any of these last 3 are high, that they paralyse action toward the vision of your idea, then it may be important to seek professional support, through whatever means you are drawn to, to move beyond their limitations.
- Resource use – What physical things, knowledge or skills are needed for the idea. How can you redistribute what you have, accumulate more, or give out what you have so that there are adequate resources for this idea to manifest?
Third; we must be stubborn and persistent. This idea we have; it’s TIME HAS COME!!! And once the changes are made and the new routines, habits, beliefs and resources are in place; all that is needed is consistent, persistent, steadfast, grounded forward steps. As fast or slow as you like; but grounded, embodied and fully rooted so that life’s external events are not going to blow it away or push it over.
This step in our journey is SO IMPORTANT.
The Idea(s) + the Growth Parameters = Results -> Outcome – > Impact
The results are as close or far away to the initial idea dependent on the growth parameters themselves. If you relate this all to a seed it may become clearer; the seed being the idea and the soil being the growth parameters. Now, you see that the seed hold the potential, but unless the soil has enough water to germinate the seed and feed the plant, the appropriate nutrient content for the specific plant, and is weed free to prevent competition; the full potential of the seed is not realised. If seriously compromised it may not even produce enough of its own seeds or rhizomes to generate subsequent plants. The idea is stopped short, and its greater impact limited.
Let’s do the work now. Pick up a pencil and let’s put some illuminated thought into some practical plans:
Your idea(s), let’s elaborate….
-Concisely write out your vision(s) for you / your work / your life etc.
-Next to each point note all the routines / habits / resource use change needed.
-Under each idea pick a different colour and note any fears / guilt / self-esteem/ pride issues you may have about them
-Now that you have made them conscious… what would that feel like to live with those new routines, those new habits or resources and skills? Visualise it. Feel it. Sit with it and let it sink into your bones. Make the commitment to make it happen. Feel the Will Power within you to fix those changes; practically with redistributed time and resources.
You got this!
